Ole and Marie both grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Ole in Fremont, Marie in South San Francisco.  We had known each other for two or three years before we started dating.  We were engaged during a trip to Disneyland and married the next spring.  Ole's dad performed the ceremony.

Marie has two children from a previous marriage: Jen and Austin Chambers.  We bought a townhouse in Fremont, but before long we began growing out of it with the additions of our two boys, T.J. and Adam.  They were born just one year and ten days apart.

We were now looking for a way to buy a larger house and still make ends meet.  We looked at all kinds of housing in the area and also housing out of the immediate area, which would mean longer commutes, etc.  We also started researching other parts of the country.   We felt that although our jobs and family were in Northern California, we should look at the pros and cons of other areas as well.  We looked at all kinds of factors: besides housing costs and job opportunities, we looked at schools, crime rates and about ten other factors.  Our research showed Louisville, Kentucky was ranked the overall best for us.  Our townhouse was on the market for over a year and a half.  When it finally sold, we only had a few short weeks before it was time to move.

For the six of us (with the youngest two still in car seats) it was a l-o-n-g drive to Louisville.  We knew no one in Louisville, had no jobs lined up and hadn't even seen the town.  We found a place to rent and our stuff arrived a week later.  Jen ended up moving back to California within a few months.  Marie found work first, holding down two part time jobs.  Ole started full time work in downtown Louisville before the end of the year.  Austin moved back to California also a few years later.

We bought our house the next year.  We have settled in and love the area, the people and our church.  We enjoy the seasonal weather also.  Louisville is within a day's drive to almost every major city in the eastern U.S.  We have the Kentucky derby each year with all of it's related festivities like massive firework shows and balloon races.

Jen met Danny Goldstein after moving to California and was married.  Jen and Danny's first child, Ryan died after few days.  You can see pictures of their second child, Brielle, on our pics page.  Yes, that makes us grandparents!

Austin is now attending University of Santa Cruz.  T.J. and Adam are busy with school and enjoy music, video games and skateboarding.
